About Us

Chetana Foundation is a Mental Health promoting NGO with a holistic approach to mental health issues. It is our belief that working on preventive mental wellbeing of individuals and groups will lead to better adjusted individuals and a healthier society.

Chetana’s intervention started in 2003 with setting up of counseling units at 13 institutions in Navi Mumbai. The work involved imparting Life Skills training for secondary students in tandem with individual as well as group counseling of parents, students and teachers.

Activities

Real-life stories of transformation that demonstrate the power of our work

  • Training of teachers in collaboration with Education Department and Tata Institute of Social Sciences
  • Gender Sensitization of 1000 new Police Recruits in collaboration with Women’s Commission and Women and Child Welfare Department
  • Sessions on Sex, Sexuality and Gender for over 2000 students across Maharashtra
  • Training of Teachers in Counseling Skills
  • Implementation of Value Education Program for Students and Living Values for Teachers
  • Pre marital Counseling Sessions for over 1000 Graduate and Post Graduate Students across Mumbai.
  • Group and Individual Counseling with 7 schools in collaboration with EOTO(NGO) and 5 centers involving 12 schools with Ceat RPG
  • Training of Master Trainers and Trainers for sensitizing Counselors, Health Professional, Teachers and Law Enforcement on Alternate Sexuality
  • Research on Girls Arriving at Early Menstruation ( 7-8yrs)
